About the Program
Join the California Association of Nurse Anesthetists (CANA) for our annual Spring Meeting, May 1-3, 2020 in Berkeley, CA! The Spring Meeting is your chance to connect with other California CRNAs, SRNAs, and our partners to learn, network ,and grow your practice. This spring we’re bringing back our popular RED Talks, as well as a new focus on wellness, while still providing informative sessions to help keep you at the forefront of your practice.

Educational sessions will cover topics including:
- TAP Block Demonstration
- Mental Health for the CRNA
- ABCs for X-Ray
- Emotional Intelligence
- Imposter Syndrome
- OFAs – Ketamine, Magnesium, NSAID, Precedex, and Why They’re Important
- Distractions in the OR
- …and a special presentation by Randy Moore, DNP, CRNA, the CEO of AANA, where he’ll discuss his vision for the future of the organization and its chapters
Student Forum: SRNAs are invited to attend this special workshop to help them on their way to success as a CRNA. Topics include: surviving CRNA school and work/life balance, how to become an impactful preceptor, as well as financial health techniques.
Meet the Chief: At this year’s Spring Meeting, SRNAs will have an opportunity to get a leg-up on their job hunt by signing-up to meet with a Chief CRNA from Kaiser, Mercy General, UC Davis, and other leading institutions, where they’ll review resumes and practice interview techniques.
RN Track – Becoming a CRNA: Registered nurses thinking of becoming CRNAs are invited to participate in this session to learn about what to expect while in a CRNA program, how to balance school life with personal life, and next steps in taking that leap.
Networking & Fun Activities
This spring, the program allows for continued connections through social activities, including:
- A CRNA vs SRNA kickball tournament
- Exhibit Fair featuring hors d’oeuvres, games, and prizes
- Open Friday evening for dinner meet-ups and exploring the Bay Area
Join the CANA PAC on Saturday, May 2nd for an evening of live music, great food, and scenic San Francisco views. Pre-registration will be required ($150/person) – details coming soon.

Sponsor a Student (SRNA) Attendee for $100: Help a student nurse anesthestist (SRNA) attend the CANA 2020 Spring Meeting by sponsoring their registration. The student’s registration will include access to all sessions and social functions, including the Exhibitor Fair and lunch. The registration fee for SRNAs is $100 and a sponsorship will cover the full amount. You will have the option to either identify a student by name, or allow CANA to select a student on your behalf. As of 2020, donations are now managed through the CANA Foundation and therefore are tax deductible.
