An overview of the historical basis of these essential medical devices used in IV therapy is a prerequisite in developing the understanding of the initial use for which they were intended. The expanded use of these medical devices beyond what they were originally developed for has necessitated advances in medical device construction. Standards are developed to provide guidelines for manufacturers that make these products safer and more efficient. The evolution of these particular medical devices remains essential so that healthcare services provided by clinicians advances quality and safety of patient care. |

The use of singing bowls and other non-pharmacologic modalities creates a soothing sensory experience that promotes a sense of calm and well-being. These harmonious sounds can recruit vagal pathways by way of parasympathetic nervous system activation, which can lower heart rate, reduce blood pressure, and ease muscle tension, fostering a tranquil atmosphere. For patients, this can translate to reduced pre-surgery anxiety and a more positive surgical experience. For colleagues, the calming environment can lead to decreased workplace stress and improved overall mood, enhancing teamwork and patient care. |
