What are your favorite cases or anesthesia specialty?
I enjoy the diversity of our work at Kaiser Santa Clara. We provide anesthesia services to the main operating room, ambulatory surgery, electrophysiology, eye surgery center and high risk obstetrics. Sometimes it’s routine, sometimes not, but we have a great team of providers and it stays interesting.
What is the most rewarding part of being a CRNA?
The human connection. Helping people feel comfortable and safe in a vulnerable situation. I find this a very rewarding profession.
What are your passions outside of work
Family time, banjo, fiddle & guitar time. Big fan of English Premier League soccer
Is there any research, thesis, practice projects, missions, or other anesthesia related work you would like to share with our community?
I have participated in the CANA Board of Directors as a trustee and president. I was one of the CRNA staff schedulers for two years and have now transitioned into the assistant chief role. This career has provided much personal and professional growth. It has been a major challenge, but also very rewarding. I feel fortunate to be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
