CANA works closely with the educational institutions graduating CRNAs in California. All are accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs and as of 2025, all nurse anesthesia program graduates now earn doctoral degrees (DNP or DNAP).
As with all nurse anesthesia educational programs throughout the United States, the educational requirements for admission to a California Nurse Anesthesia Program include the following:
- A Minimum of One Year of Acute Care Nursing
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing or other appropriate baccalaureate degree
- A Current License as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- Fulfillment of all appropriate program specific requirements
