Current Residents/SRNAs

Starting your nurse anesthesia program is exciting, demanding, and full of decisions—and you don't have to navigate it alone. As a Nurse Anesthesia Resident (NAR) or Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist (SRNA), you have a community behind you here in California. The California Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (CANA) is your state association, connecting you to mentorship, education, advocacy, and a network of colleagues who've walked the same path. We're here to support you from your first day of school through your career as a CRNA.

Member Benefits

Your program administrator will give you an AANA membership application at the start of your program. It automatically includes CANA membership as your state association—no separate signup required. Questions or need help getting started? Contact CANA using the information below.

What CANA Offers

  • In-person education and networking at our annual Spring and Fall Meetings and the Western CRNA Summit, with mentorship and networking opportunities tailored specifically to our NAR/SRNA members.
  • Online education and networking at our annual NAR/SRNA Workshop.
  • Advocacy participation through Lobby Day, Mid-Year Assembly, and grassroots efforts—your chance to shape the profession's future.
  • Stay informed with a monthly email newsletter plus additional alerts on important updates and opportunities.
