SUMMARY:CANA 2021 Virtual Lobby Week
DESCRIPTION:Sign up now for CANA’s annual state lobbying event. Since we are unable to visit Sacramento in person this year\, CANA will be hosting the event virtually from Monday\, April 12 – Thursday\, April 15\, 2021. \nAll CANA members are encouraged to join us for a welcome workshop on Monday morning\, followed by virtual appointments with legislators and their staff throughout the week. \nSchedule:\nMonday\, April 12\, 2021 \n8:00-10:00am Welcome Workshop – CANA’s lobbyists will provide a briefing of the week’s events and go over the dos and don’ts of lobbying. We will also be joined by special guest speakers. This Workshop is required in order to prepare for the lobby appointments to follow.  \n10:30am-3:30pm Lobby Appointments – Participants will be assigned to groups with a group leader to attend the lobbying appointments with legislators’ offices. CANA will be working to schedule the appointments during the windows of time below\, and a final schedule will be provided to each group in advance. DESCRIPTION:Instead of an in-person conference this spring\, CANA will be presenting its first ever Web Conference on Saturday\, May 2\, 2020. Click here for details. \n  \n  \n\nThe California Association of Nurse Anesthetists (CANA) has been actively monitoring developments related to the evolution of COVID-19 and is responding to the public health mandates not to hold meetings in California. In light of these developments\, we needed to POSTPONE our CANA Spring 2020 Meeting (formerly May 1-3 in Berkeley). Instead\, CANA will be hosting a Web Conference on May 2 (see link above for details) and the CANA Spring Meeting in Berkeley will take place next year on May 7-9\, 2021 – please save the date. The next in-person CANA meeting will be our Annual Fall Meeting on October 16-18\, 2020 in Redondo Beach\, CA\, and details will be coming in Summer 2020. \nPlease note that hotel and travel cancellations to the Doubletree Berkeley Marina for May 1-3\, 2020 should be made by each attendee individually as soon as possible. \nWe are in the process of reaching out to all registered individuals directly to offer a refund or transfer of your registration fee to a future meeting. DESCRIPTION:Update as of March 13\, 2020  — “The AANA has been actively monitoring developments related to the evolution of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). To assess its current and potential impact\, the association has assembled an internal task force to consider guidelines provided by the World Health Organization\, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention\, and state and local health organizations. \nGiven the latest health advisory in the Washington\, D.C.\, area\, the AANA Board of Directors has cancelled the 2020 Mid-Year Assembly\, scheduled for April 18-22. Registration cancellation fees will be fully refunded\, and hotel reservations made within the AANA hotel block will be cancelled. Participants are encouraged to contact their airline directly regarding ticketing. This unprecedented move will impact population health and our normal way of life for months to come. The California Association of Nurse Anesthetists (CANA) is responding to the pandemic by limiting COVID-19 exposure opportunities. This means canceling unnecessary travel and large gatherings and meetings. \nThe CANA Board has informed the AANA that CANA will be withdrawing from the conference given the pandemic. Member safety was (and remains) central to our decision. In addition\, several CRNA employers have issued domestic and international travel bans prohibiting CRNAs from attending these events. Most of the CANA leadership is impacted by an employer ban\, leaving few unaffected attendees.
